When you get an oil change, do they have to physically switch the oil level indicator?

My wife's 02 Silhoutte got an oil change, isn't leaking oil, but says it is at 5%.|||When you get an oil change in a car like your wifes... the technecian or the person changing the oil has to reset the oil life light everytime.. cause all the light is for is to remind you... everytime you reset the light it goes until 3000 miles then goes off again.. so all you gotta do is reset the light.. it should be in your owners manuel|||Yes they do. You can find out yourself how to reset the gauge with a simple google search as I am not familiar with the model. Usually you just have to hold a button or press a series of buttons.

Also, leaks have nothing to do with this sensor. It just tells you when to change your oil based on how many miles have passed, how much time has passed, and your driving habitts since the last change.
