How much should an oil change cost?

I see the dealer charged $50 and change for my last oil/filter change on my 2010 Rav4. (4 cyl). What should I expect to pay at one of those quick lub places? Is there any advantage to taking it to the dealer? They say the check all sorts of things, but I suspect they don't really if there are no complaints.|||While your dealer is keeping your Rav4 in tip top shape, they're also putting in full synthetic oil on a new vehicle along with OE filter as well. If you go to a lube shop you're going to get a worthless fram (or lesser quality) filter along with Bulk conventional oil. The dealer is charging you a fair price for synthetic oil/oil filter and the job. If you buy full synthetic oil on sale you can get it for $20/gallon and a premium synthetic oil filter (mobil 1) is around $13.

And if its still under their warranty, its not a bad idea to go to them, because just about every problem they find is going to be under their warranty.|||Jim, real men change their own oil so we would have no idea how to answer your question. Just sayin'.
