How long do I wait to change to a synthetic oil?

I have a new 2008 Rav4 with 1800 miles on it. Can I change to a synthetic oil at my first oil change is there a longer break in period necessary? Thanks.|||you can change to synthetic when you want I've broken in motors on synthetic|||You do not need to flush out old conventional oil any more than draining it. You can buy blends of conv. and synthetic oil at any place that sells oil, practically. One thing; if the car had/has work and someone uses a sealant (like RTV) that is not resistant to synthetic oil, the sealant can fail in its presence.|||You can change it now. But you need to consult the dealer first about a full synthetic change over. When my dad wanted to do his Escape that way, they told him a complete flush to get petroleum based oils out was needed. But in the long run, you may not need it. Many of the oils today can go 5,000 miles between changes. Look at the big picture and overall cost to see if there is a benefit for you %26amp; your Rav. G'day1|||All important motor break-in work was done before it left the factory.

You can switch to full synthetic at 2 miles on the odometer if you wanted to. All modern synthetics are compatible with other oils, so no engine flush or anything like that is needed.|||Many cars come with synthetic oil installed. Change at the first oil change. All the experts agree, and you can mix conventional petroleum and synthetic oils to get a synthetic blend which is what Ford uses for all their oil changes.
