Why do oil change places charge so much extra for synthetic?

For the price that oil change places charge for crappy Pennzoil Platinum Synthetic and a cheapo low quality oil filter, I can do it myself, and put in Amsoil, and a expensive Amsoil filter and it comes out about the same. Why do they charge so much more?|||They are trying to maximize their profits. You are doing the right thing by using Amsoil though, it's the best out there. You can actually save more money by becoming a Preferred Customer, I think they save something in the order of 25% off of the Amsoil, and its actually dealer price. I always get mine from http://www.RealSyntheticOils.net|||they charge double what iot would cost if you bought it at the store on your own..they do the same thiung with conventional oil....for example, conevtional pennzoil costs about $10-12 at the store but an oil change place will charge $20 minimum, synthetic oil costs $18-22 at the store but $40-50 at an oil change place--they just need to make money---any business selling a product does that--on the same note do you really think a large pepperoni pizza should cost $14 nowadays?? i could make my own for about $6|||They need the money to buy insurance, and pay for accidental damages to other peoples cars. They need the money to pay taxes, to pay the wadges for their workers, and to pay their workers health care, and other benifits, they need the money for their electric, water, heating bills in the shop, to keep everything in working order. They need the money to buy and maintain their tools ect...|||The oil itself is like -6- times the $$$$ as regular dino-juice oil, plus it takes a bit longer to pour the separate cans in your car, compared to the bulk pump system they have for regular oil.
