Got an oil change now there is smoke coming up from the engine?

I got an oil change then when I got home I noticed there was smoke coming up from under the hood. I checked under the hood but can't tell where the smoke is coming from. My brother said they probably just spilled some oil and it's burning off. But this has never happened to me after an oil change. Could it really be just some spilled oil or could they have messed something up?|||you should check that all of the caps to the oil, water, screenwash etc are firmly on because it could just be that a cap is off and as the engine heats liquid comes out of the top of the engine where it isnt sealed properly. if not it is proberly just some spilt oil or something.

also when it does it again check your engine temperature because if they have used the wrong oil, it may cause the engine to run too hot and therefore it wil smoke|||What kind of vehicle is it? I've done tons and tons of oil changes and there's a lot of cars that the old oil from the filter will get on the exhaust. And even after wiping it off you could have the rest burning off.|||Could be both, start engine and look at the oil filter and be sure there is no oil leaking. Spilled oil will just burn off. wipe everything off first.|||its just a bet av oil on the engine|||First make sure you aren't leaving a puddle of oil when the car is sitting. It is well worth looking under the car and checking that the oil plug and filter got tightened.

If all the checked out your brother is right. Very common to spill a little oil when filling and directly under the filler cap is the exhaust manifold. If that is what happened don't worry about it.|||TAKE IT BACK TO WHO DID IT|||I would say it is spilled oil. I have had that problem too when they forgot to put the filler cap back on. I would look it over and check the filter to make sure it is tight and check the filler cap. If you want start it let it warm up and see where the smoke is coming from|||Trust your brother. Oil change places only pay minimum wage.|||Most likely. Check the oil level each day. If the burning oil does not stop in a day or two, then take it back to the place and tell them to check it over.|||could have overfilled the engine with oil, check your oil level, i've seen it happen more than once.
